Mini game 2: Write messages
- Pick a word, any word! Keep it to yourself – don’t say it out loud.
- Spell that word out in morse code for your partner in any way you would like.
- You can tap it on the table, use a flashlight to flash the message, or (our favorite), tap it on your partner’s hand or somewhere else on their body.
- Try to translate which word your partner is sharing with you.
- Use the alphabet for help as necessary.
- Switch!
Activity 3: Create a code language
Have you and your partner ever found yourselves in situations where you wish you could communicate with each telepathically? Now, we are all about connecting here at Dating in Captivity and we are pretty good at our job, but even we can’t help you and your partner read each other’s minds. Sorry . . .
But what we can do is help you come up with super cool code language that you can use when you find yourself in awkward or pressing situations. In this activity, you and your partner will be coming up with your secret words and signals to communicate with each other without others being able to decipher your messages!
What you need for this activity
- Nothing!
Instructions
Come up with a secret code word or gesture to express the following:
- This party sucks. Let’s go home.
- That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.
- I’m going to do naughty things to you later.
- I’m losing my patience with this child/person. Get them away from me, please.
- No, I don’t want to do that.
- I’m really angry at you but I won’t embarrass you in front of these other people.
- Give me a yes or no answer (and a code for yes or no)
- You’re pissing me off but I don’t want to fight so let’s call a timeout instead of continuing right now.
- I’m having a great time!
- Create your own scenario.
Activity 4: Recall a photo
Secret agents can recall the most miniscule details of a scene – you never know what might end up being an important clue or evidence later on! Which of you has the better secret agent recall?
What you need for this activity
- A computer or phone
Instructions
Your secret agent spying has led you to an office space where you are looking for anything that might point you in the direction of the bad guy. Check out the images and see if you can recall the scene afterwards.
- Set a timer for 1 minute.
- Open Photo 1 below which shows the first workspace you are suspicious of – a cluttered and messy desk.
- Start the timer. Spend 1 minute looking at the photo (both of you). When the timer ends, close the photo again.
- Open the Questions for Photo 1 and read them aloud. Write down your answers to your questions without sharing with your partner.
- Once you have answered all of the questions, open the Answers for Photo 1 and see how many you each answered correctly.
- Repeat the activity for Photo 2 which shows the second suspicious workspace – an overly organized office drawer.
- Count up who has the most correct answers from both pictures and determine who the best secret agent recaller is!

Activity 6: Learn self defense
We all know the best secret agents can kick serious bad guy butt, but before the butt-kicking starts, they need to be able to defend themselves from attackers. In this activity you and your partner will be learning some techniques from Krav Maga, a self-defense strategy developed by the Israel Defense Forces that has now taught to FBI agents, Secret Service agents, and lots of other butt-kicking bad-asses.
What you need for this activity:
- Your computer, phone, or smart TV
Instructions
This activity is very self-guided. Using the video playlist from YouTube below, take turns switching places as the attacker and the victim and practicing your skills as shown in the video. BE CAREFUL not to injure each other.
After each short video, make sure to give you partner a kiss before moving on to the next!
Do as many of the lessons as you both want or until you’ve become secret agent-ready Krav Maga masters.
Tip: After this activity, try “attacking” your partner (playfully only!) throughout the week when they aren’t expecting it and see if they remember how to counter your moves.
