Activity 1: Taste something weird
We hope you aren’t a picky eater for this activity! See how many gross or crazy foods you and your partner can endure. Don’t worry, we kept it relatively tame – puking is NOT recommended on your date night!
What you need for this activity
- This activity requires some element of surprise, so your shopping list for this activity is featured in the instructions below. NOTE that this activity can be relatively expensive in comparison to the other activities on our site. But it’s also one of the most fun 😉
Instructions
- Decide which of you will be Partner 1 and which of you will be Partner 2.
- Purchase your respective ingredients on your list before your date or doing this activity. DO NOT LOOK AT THE OTHER PARTNER’S SHOPPING LIST.
- This is just to keep an element of surprise for your activity. You will have to eat everything from both lists.
- Once you’ve gotten all of your ingredients, you’re ready to begin! Each of you must eat one of each of the foods from BOTH lists and swallow it. You can agree amongst yourselves how much of each you have to eat.
- You each get 1 point for each food that you eat completely.
Partner 1’s Shopping List (PARTNER 2 SHOULD NOT LOOK)
- Canned cat food
- Edible crickets
- Pickled eggs
- Warheads sour candy
- Super salty licorice
Partner 2’s Shopping List (PARTNER 1 SHOULD NOT LOOK)
- Baby food – broccoli
- Seaweed caviar
- Anchovies
- Wasabi paste*
- Pop Rocks candy*
*Make sure to go easy on these ones during your activity.
Activity 2: Fear Factor challenges
Can you overcome your fears in this series of quirky challenges? Who is the bravest among you? Battle it out to see who is the ultimate Fear Factor champion! This activity features 7 mini games perfectly tailored to do right from home.
What you need for this activity
- 40 marbles
- 1 bag of blended bug food for hermit crabs
- Lego bricks (classic size)
- Dog treats
- 4 plates or shallow bowls
- 1 deep bowl or pitcher
- 2 large buckets or 2 large Tupperware containers, or a bathtub
- A coin
- A blindfold (a kitchen towel will work)
- A timer
Instructions
Game 1: Touch a spider
- Find a corner of your home or a space behind a dresser, under a TV stand, by your outdoor lights, etc. where there is a spider.
- Touch it!
- If the spider appears to be poisonous, don’t touch it. Use your common sense!
- Each partner that touches a spider gets 1 point.
Modification
If you absolutely cannot find a spider anywhere, stick your hand under a TV stand, behind your bed, etc. where there COULD be a spider and hold it there for 10 seconds.
Game 2: Stand under a cold shower
- Turn your shower down to the lowest temperature.
- Stand under it for 10 seconds.
- You do not have to get your hair wet, just make sure the majority of your body is immersed.
- Each partner that stays under the water for 10 seconds gets 1 point.
Game 3: Darkness
- Find the darkest room of your house. Turn off all of the lights.
- Partner 1 lays on their back in the darkness with the blindfold on their eyes.
- Set a timer for 3 minutes.
- During those 3 minutes, Partner 2 gets to tickle, poke, or shout “boo” as often or as little as they want.
- Tip – it’s usually the suspense that’s the killer in this game!
- Switch roles and reset the timer for 3 minutes.
- Each partner that can hold out and keep the blindfold on for all 3 minutes gets 1 point.
Game 4: Lego walk
- Pick a starting spot and an ending spot across the room.
- Partner 1 should walk at a normal pace from one side of the room to the other while Partner 2 throws legos under their feet as they walk.
- Partner 1 may not shuffle their feet, jump out of the way, or otherwise try to avoid stepping on the legos or they forfeit their point!
- Switch roles and repeat.
- Each partner that can endure the walk from one side to the other gets 1 point.
Game 5: Frozen toes.
- Fill 2 buckets, your Tupperware, or your bathtub with ice cold water. Put 20 marbles at the bottom of each bucket, or all 40 marbles in the tub.
- Set a timer for 30 seconds.
- Remove as many marbles as you can before the timer goes off – with just your toes.
- The partner that removes the most marbles in 30 seconds gets 1 point.
Game 6: Stick your hand in bugs
- Put a coin in the bottom of a deep bowl or pitcher. Fill up the rest of the bowl/pitcher with the blended bug food for hermit crabs.
- Take turns fishing your hand through the food to find the coin at the bottom.
- Each partner to complete this activity gets 1 point.
Game 7: Dog treat race
- Set up 2 bowls filled with 5 dog treats each on one side of the room. Set up 2 empty bowls on the other side of the room.
- Using only your mouths, move all your 5 dog treats from one bowl to the other.
- The first partner to finish this game gets 1 point.
Tally up your points and determine your winner. Congratulations – you’re the fear champion!
