The Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory movie was AWESOME as a kid. All of that candy!!
Now, as an adult, the movie is super creepy. But that makes it totally entertaining and the perfect backdrop for your candy-themed date!
This activity takes movie watching to the next level and adds the fun adult element of a drinking game. Cheers!

- Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971) film
- Cocktails of your choice
Instructions
- Prepare the candy cocktails of your choosing (see the recommend food and drink pairings for the Crazy for Candy date for ideas)
- Stream or start your Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory film
- While watching the movie, take a drink whenever the following happens:
- Anyone says “golden ticket” or “gobstopper”
- Slugworth is shown on the screen or mentioned
- The oompa loompas sing
Modifications
If you don’t want to drink alcohol for this activity, change the rules so you give your partner a kiss whenever the above happens instead!
Psst! You can do the rest of your other date activities while you have the movie running in the background, or you can watch the full movie and do your other date activities either before or after.
Activity 2: Adult Candy Land
Candy Land is the ultimate little kid’s game, and now it’s also the ultimate fun (and sexy) adult game!
What you need for this activity
Instructions
- Play Candy Land as you normally would (follow the instructions in the box if you need a refresher), but add the following rules:
- If you draw a card with a single RED or single PURPLE square: give your partner a kiss
- If you draw a card with double squares (any color): you get to tell your partner where on your body you want to be kissed and your partner has to kiss you there
- If you draw a specialty card (with a character on it): your partner has to remove an item of clothing
The loser of the game has to strip down to their underwear (or beyond!) for the rest of the evening!
Activity 3: Candy Mini Games
Play these 5 fun candy-themed mini games to keep the sugar rush going strong!
What you need for this activity
- One larger (7 oz.) bag of regular MnMs
- 6 bowls or cups (do not need to be uniform)
- 2 full-size candy bars with wrappers
- 2 straws
- 1 die
Instructions
- First thing’s first. Choose your prizes or punishments for the winner and loser. Here are some suggestions!
- The winner gets a 15 minute massage from the losing partner
- The winner gets a kid-free sleeping in morning with breakfast in bed provided by the losing partner
- The winner is free of laundry duty for a week, and the losing partner must take care of all of the laundry
- The winner gets a sexual favor of their choosing, and the losing partner can’t say no
- The winner gets to choose the next Dating in Captivity date!
- Follow the instructions for each mini game below.
- The winner of 3 of the 5 mini games is the ultimate king or queen of candy and gets to claim their prize as determined in Step 1.
Mini Games
Mini Game 1
Guess how many MnMs are in your bag of MnMs. No googling beforehand!
- Write down your guess on a piece of paper and don’t show your partner.
- Once you both have written your guesses, count out the number in the bag. (Important: Keep your counted MnMs in piles of 10 or 20 – you will need to split your MnMs equally in half between the two of you for the next mini game).
- Reveal your guesses. The partner with the closest guess wins!
Mini Game 2
Who can sort the MnMs by color fastest?
- Sit opposite each other at a table or on the floor with 6 cups in a row between you.
- Give each partner exactly half of the MnMs.
- Designate which color goes in which cup.
- On the count of 3 start your sorting of your pile. The partner that sorts all of their MnMs by color before the other wins!
Mini Game 3
Let’s make pretty MnM flowers! Each partner will roll a die to see who can build their flowers first.
You will make 5 flowers, 1 each in blue, red, brown, orange, and green. Each flower will have 1 yellow MnM at it’s center, and 5 “petals,” or 5 MnMs of each of the other respective colors. You should therefore have 5 flowers that look like this in different colors:
- Play rock, paper, scissors or flip a coin to see who gets to roll first.
- Roll the following on your die to add to your flower:
- 1: Yellow
- 2: Red
- 3: Green
- 4: Blue
- 5: Orange
- 6: Brown
- Take turns back and forth rolling the die and building your flowers.
- The partner that finishes all 5 flowers first wins!
Mini Game 4
Suck it up, buttercup!
- Remain sitting facing each other.
- Pour the MnMs out of one of the cups from your previous activity. Divvy up the MnM’s so you each have 20 pieces in front of you (you can take from the other cups as necessary).
- Move the remaining cups out of the way and leave just 1 empty cup between you.
- Take a straw each.
- Using the straw, you must suck up the MnMs and transfer them into the cup in the middle. Note that you are sharing the same cup, so your partner can try to knock your MnMs off of you straw if you both are transferring at the same time!
- On the count of 3 start your game. The partner that transfers all of their MnMs into the cup first wins!
Psst! If an MnM falls on the floor during battle, just take another one from one of the cups from the previous activities rather than chasing it around!
Mini Game 5
Ok you are officially done with the MnMs and can now eat them.
For your last mini activity, you will race to see who can open the wrapper on a candy bar first . . . wait for it . . . without using your hands!
- Give each partner a candy bar with the wrapper still on to open.
- Each partner must hold their hands behind their back for the whole activity.
- On the count of 3, race to see who can open the wrapper first.
- The winner is the first partner to open their entire candy bar out of the wrapper and take a bite!
Activity 4: Steal the sugar
This activity is based off of the Danish game called “pakkeleg” that is generally played with friends and family at Christmas.
We are making this game date-friendly and even more competitive by pinning you and your partner against each other in the ultimate battle for sugary goodness!
What you need for this activity
- Mixed wrapped candies, at least 10 pieces
- 2 or more bags or boxes of your favorite candies
- 1 die
Instructions
- Sit beside each other or across from each other at a table with all of the candy (including the bags/boxes of your favorites) together in a pile in front of you.
- Play rock, paper, scissors or flip a coin to see who gets to start.
- Use a random timer app (try this one) to set a random timer between 4 and 7 minutes.
- You do not want to know how much time is on the timer.
- Start the timer.
- The first player/partner rolls the die first and then passes the die to their partner. Your rolling then goes back and forth as you take turns.
- If you roll a 1, you take any candy from the pile.
- If you roll a 6, you get to steal any candy from your partner.
- Once the pile in the middle is gone, you can steal 2 candies from your partner if you roll a 1 and continue to take 1 candy if you roll a 6
- Play until the timer stops.
- You win all of the candy you have in your pile at the end of the game!
Time to eat! Enjoy all of the candy you’ve won, but remember not to eat so much that you get a tummy ache. Sugar hangovers are not to be taken lightly!
