What you need for this date:
- 6 jars or pouches of baby food (each of you should buy 3 in different flavors)
- NOTE: This activity works best when you each buy 3 different baby foods and keep them secret from your partner. If that is not possible, have one partner try as much as possible to quickly grab 6 kinds off the shelf without reading the labels, or have a friend get 6 kinds for you. It is most fun if you look for foods that have a blend of 2-3 fruits or vegetables – more than that gets too difficult.
- 2 blindfolds (kitchen towels will work)
- 2 diapers
- 2 dolls or stuffed animals with legs
- 2 pairs of baby pants
- 2 packages of wipes
- A large bowl
- Kid’s socks in different colors/patterns, preferably 10-15 pairs
- 3 pacifiers
- Miscellaneous small toys or other objects around the house that can get wet
- A balloon
- A ping pong ball
- A cup
- A laundry basket, hamper, or bucket
- 2 bottles or sippy cups
- 2 bandaids (in the wrappers)
- Your phones
- A bag of small marshmallows
- Nasal aspirator (suck-up or bulb)
Activities with full instructions
Welcome to the Baby Olympics. May the odds be ever in your favor!
During your date, you will be competing in 10 mini games and a bonus activity to see who will come out victorious during the Baby Olympics.
The winner of each activity will receive 1 point. Keep track of your points throughout the date to determine the winner at the end of the evening.
Before starting your Olympic games, set the stakes. Choose which prizes the winner gets or which punishments the loser gets at the end of the date. Remember to keep things fun and sexy!
Here are some prize suggestions:
- The winner gets a 15 minute massage from the losing partner
- The winner gets a kid-free sleeping in morning with breakfast in bed provided by the losing partner
- The winner is free of laundry duty for a week, and the losing partner must take care of all of the laundry
- The winner gets a sexual favor of their choosing, and the losing partner can’t say no
- The winner gets to choose the next Dating in Captivity date!
Got your prizes picked? Great! Let’s get started.
Don’t say “baby” (tie breaker)
Don’t Say Baby is arguably the most classic baby shower game ever. Usually it is played with clothespins which you remove from the other shower attendees whenever you catch them saying the word “baby.”
We are turning up the heat with our version and really making it a challenge for you and your partner by having 3 off-limit words, and we aren’t requiring the usual clothespin garb.
Tip: Be careful singing along to the songs in the Baby Olympics playlist or might find yourself losing this game very quickly!
Instructions
- From this point, you may no longer say “baby,” “diaper,” or “sock” for the remainder of your date.
- If you and your partner speak a different language together, then you cannot use the translated versions of these words in your language, either!
- If you catch your partner using one of those words, make a tally on a piece of paper or in your phone.
- The only exception to these rules is when one partner is reading the directions for your activities from this guide out-loud.
- The partner at the end of the date who has said the fewest of the off-limit words wins!
This activity does not count for any points UNLESS you both win 5 of the 10 Olympic games and you need a tie-breaker!
Activity 1: Baby food tasting
Can you guess which fruits and vegetables are in your baby’s favorite mushy meals? Something about mashing up food and blending it all together makes it actually quite difficult! Put your taste buds to the test and see which partner has the more refined palette.
What you need for this activity
- 6 jars or pouches of baby food (each of you should buy 3 in different flavors)
- 1 blindfold (a kitchen towel will work)
NOTE: This activity works best when you each buy 3 different baby foods and keep them secret from your partner. If that is not possible, have one partner try as much as possible to quickly grab 6 kinds off the shelf without reading the labels, or have a friend get 6 kinds for you. It is most fun if you look for foods that have a blend of 2-3 fruits or vegetables – more than that gets too difficult.
Instructions
- Blindfold the first partner.
- The second partner should spoon-feed the first partner a bite of the baby food and tell them how many ingredients they need to guess (the number of ingredients in the baby food).
- The first partner must make their guess for which ingredients they think they are eating. They get 1 guess for each of the number of ingredients in the baby food.
- The second partner writes down the guesses and marks which ones are correct without telling their partner.
- Repeat for the remaining two baby foods, and then switch roles so the next partner gets to taste 3 foods following the same rules.
- After both partners have tasted their 3 foods, tally up the number of correct ingredients guessed for each partner and reveal who the winner is!
The winner of this game gets 1 point.
Activity 2: Diaper relay
You know that feeling of fiddling through the dark trying to change your baby’s diaper in the middle of the night? Let’s relive it!
In this challenge you and your partner will see who can race to change baby’s diaper fastest – blindfolded.
What you need for this activity
- 2 diapers
- 2 blindfolds (kitchen towels work fine)
- 2 dolls or stuffed animals with legs
- 2 pairs of baby pants
- 2 baby wipes
- A large bowl
Instructions
- Put a pair of baby pants on each of the dolls or stuffed animals.
- Place your dolls or stuffed animals on a surface, preferably on one side of the room.
- Put the large bowl on the surface between your dolls/stuffed animals.
- Pick a starting point for where your relay will begin, preferably on the opposite side of the room from where you put your dolls or stuffed animals.
- Place 2 diapers and two wipes somewhere along the path between your starting point and the dolls.
- We recommend putting the diapers in one spot and the wipes in another spot.
- You and your partner should go to your starting point and put on your blindfolds.
- Make sure you have a visual sense of where everything is before putting on your blindfold!
- On the count of 3, you each should do the following:
- Pick up 1 wipe and 1 diaper on your way to the doll.
- When you reach your doll, remove the pants and put a diaper on your doll/stuffed animal.
- Put your wipe in the large bowl.
- Put the pants back on your doll/stuffed animal.
- Carry your doll/stuffed animal back to your starting point.
- The partner that returns back to the starting point with a diapered doll/stuffed animal wins!
The winner of this game gets 1 point.
Activity 3: Sock matching
Finding the matches to baby socks sucks! They are teeny tiny and always seem to get lost.
You and your partner will be testing your sock sorting skills. We promise this version of doing the laundry is much more fun!
What you need for this activity
- Kid’s socks in different colors/patterns, preferably 10-15 pairs
Instructions
- Unroll all of the sock pairs and put all of the socks into a pile.
- Partner 1 should take 2 or 3 socks out of the pile and set them to the side without Partner 2 seeing which ones
- This means that there will be 2-3 socks in the pile that don’t have matches, which ups the challenge!
- On the count of 3, start a stopwatch and time how long it takes Partner 2 to put together all of the sock matches back into sock rolls (minus the 2-3 singles that remain from Step 2)
- Partner 1 should write down the time but not share it with Partner 2 yet
- Reverse roles and repeat the activity
- Partner 2 can add the socks that Partner 1 set aside back to the pile and remove 2-3 new socks without Partner 1 seeing which ones
- After both partners have had their timed turns, reveal who had the lowest time – you’ve found your winner!
The winner of this game gets 1 point.
Activity 4: Bobbing for pacifiers
This game is hilarious, if not a little messy. Get the camera ready! You and your partner will be bobbing for pacifiers in a bowl of water. Blindfolded.
What you need for this activity
- A blindfold
- 3 pacifiers
- A large bowl
- Miscellaneous small toys or other objects around the house that can get wet
Instructions
Instructions
- Fill up your large bowl with water and your pacifiers and toys.
- Partner 1 will put on the blindfold and must bob for the pacifiers without using their hands.
- The toys are just there for distraction and to make it more of a challenge.
- Note: your blindfold might get a bit wet!
- Partner 2 should time the event. Stop the timer when Partner 1 has removed all 3 pacifiers from the bowl.
- Write down the time without sharing it with Partner 1 yet.
- Reverse roles and repeat the activity.
- After both partners have had their timed turns, reveal who had the lowest time – you’ve found your winner!
The winner of this game gets 1 point.
Activity 5: Wipe out
If you ask any baby, wet wipes are meant to be pulled out of the package and flung all over the floor. As this is the Baby Olympics, that is exactly what you and your partner will be doing as well!
What you need for this activity
- 2 packages of wipes
Instructions
- Open your wipes package and remove any stickers or other seals.
- On the count of 3, you and your partner must race to see who can remove the wipes from the package the fastest.
- You may only remove 1 wipe at a time.
- Sometimes they will stick together, which is fine, but no digging into the package and pulling out handfulls at a time!
- The winner is the partner that removes all of the wipes from their package first!
The winner of this game gets 1 point.
Note: You can put the wipes back in the package after, or in a ziploc bag to keep the fresh for reuse!
Activity 6: The tinkle game
Having to go to the bathroom when you are pregnant with a multi-pound baby sitting on your bladder can quickly become and urgent matter. One sneeze can make things go really wrong really fast!
In this game you and your partner will be mimicking the pregnant lady “gotta pee” waddle. The stakes might not be quite as high as if it were the real deal potty waddle, but we assure you the competition will be intense.
What you need for this activity
- A balloon
- A ping pong ball
- A cup
Instructions
- Blow up your balloon and have Partner 1 put the balloon under their shirt (to mimic a pregnant belly, of course).
- Put your cup on the floor in a spot without anything else around it.
- Pick a starting spot.
- From the starting spot, Partner 1 puts the ping pong between their knees and must waddle over to the cup. Try to drop the ball from your knees into the cup.
- Repeat 5 times and keep score for how many times out of 5 Partner 1 gets the ball in the cup.
- Switch to Partner 2 and repeat the activity.
- The partner that gets the most balls in the cup out of 5 turns wins!
The winner of this game gets 1 point.
Note: If you both get the ball in all 5 times, do a sudden death round where you each take turns back and forth and the first partner to drop the ball outside of the cup loses!
Activity 7: Sock toss
Doing laundry doesn’t always have to be boring. In this game you and your partner will be shootin’ some hoops, but with kid’s socks into the laundry!
What you need for this activity
- Kid’s socks in different colors/patterns, preferably 10 pairs
- A laundry basket, hamper, or bucket
Instructions
- Place your laundry basket, hamper, or bucket on the other side of the room.
- Sitting on your couch or standing away from the basket in your agreed upon spot, Partner 1 should throw the 10 pairs of bunched up sock one at a time and see how many they can get in the basket.
- Switch roles and repeat the activity with Partner 2.
- The partner who gets the most pairs of socks in the basket out of 10 shots wins!
The winner of this game gets 1 point.
Note: If you tie on the number of socks you get in the basket, do a sudden death round where you each take turns back and forth throwing the socks and the first partner to miss a shot loses!
Activity 8: Bottle chugging
Chug! Chug! Chug! Nope this isn’t your college frat party. With this activity you will be chugging from . . . baby bottles.
What you need for this activity
- 2 bottles or sippy cups
- A drink of your choice
Note: If you are using bottles, you may need to cut the nipples on the bottles a tiny bit so the liquid flows faster through them. Take a test drink out of one of the bottles to see if it flows quickly or is too slow. Make sure if you do cut the nipples slightly that the holes you cut are as even as possible on both nipples so no partner has an advantage over the other.
Instructions
- Fill your bottles or sippy cups with the drinks of your choice.
- Make sure the amount of liquid in each is as equal as possible.
- On the count of 3, start chugging!
- The partner who finishes their entire drink from the bottle or sippy cup first wins!
The winner of this game gets 1 point.
Activity 9: The multi-tasker
Every parent knows the incredible skill it takes to simultaneously make dinner, clean up the spill on the floor, and find the sippy cup in the cupboard all with one hand while baby is propped on their hip. This game tests your parenting abilities when it comes to multi-tasking!
What you need for this activity
- Your 2 diaped dolls or stuffed animals from the Diaper Relay
- Your 2 bottles or sippy cups from the previous activity
- 2 pacifiers
- 2 bandaids (in the wrappers)
- Your phones
Instructions
- Lay your dolls/stuffed animals with their pants and diapers on in front of each of you on a table or sit on the couch with them on your laps.
- Put the bandaids beside you within reach.
- Prop your telephones between your ear and shoulder. Hold the phone up to your ear with your shoulder throughout the whole activity.
- In your “bad hand” (the opposite hand of the one you write with), hold the baby bottle or sippy cup. You must hold the bottle/cup in your hand throughout the whole activity.
- On the count of 3, you will race to do the following with your one remaining hand (remember to keep the phone propped on your shoulder and have the cup in your other hand):
- Remove the pants and diaper off of the doll/stuffed animal
- Apply the bandaid to the doll’s/stuffed animal’s leg
- The first partner to complete these tasks with their one hand win!
The winner of this game gets 1 point.
Activity 10: The Sucker Upper
Who knew that a device used to suck snot out of your baby’s nose could be put to such other fun uses?
This activity is featured in the Baby Olympics Date.

What you need for this activity
Instructions
- Put the cup on a table and pour out the bag of marshmallows on the table around the cup.
- Partner 1 opens a stopwatch on their phone.
- When Partner 1 starts the stopwatch, Partner 2 uses the nasal aspirator to suck up the marshmallows one at a time and put them into the cup.
- Stop the stopwatch when Partner 2 has gotten all of the marshmallows into the cup. Partner 1 should write the time down on a piece of paper or in their phone without sharing with Partner 2 yet.
- Pour the marshmallows back out of the cup, switch roles, and repeat the activity.
- Reveal each other’s times. The partner who had the lowest time is the winner!
The winner of this game gets 1 point.
Closing Ceremony
You made it! Congratulations on making it through these grueling tests of obsolete parenting skills. You should be so proud of yourselves!
